TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF THE UNDERPRIVILEGED

AND CHANGE THEIR STORY

WHO WE ARE

The Dorothy Foundation is a peace foundation. We see ourselves first and foremost as Quakers and, as Quakers, we believe that there is a reflection of God in everyone. We operate without discrimination of any kind. The charity’s main charity objective is to provide grants and donations of equipment and other items to charities and not-forprofit organisations. The gifts are given to organisations working in Sierra Leone to advance health and education, promote religious or racial harmony, relieve unemployment or provide facilities for recreation or other leisuretime occupation. This is in the interests of social welfare. We empower children, youth, and families to effectively navigate through change, raise healthy children, develop strong relationships, and heal from trauma. We offer regular, consistent support to those in need so that the children in our care can develop over time, giving them the chance to create a brighter future. We empower children, youth, and families to effectively navigate through change, raise healthy children, develop strong relationships, and heal from trauma.

 WHAT WE DO

We provide quality care, education and family strengthening services. We aim to:

  • Provide affordable behavioural and mental health services for all
  • Empower children to achieve their fullest potential
  • Enhance parent-child relationships, and school performance
  • Provide economic empowerment education and money management tools

HEALING ROLE OF FARMING AT BRADFORD VILLAGE

Sustainable Farming

The Foundation now supports a college at Bradford village, which facilitates farming and online extension courses, named Bradford Institute of Technology in-development, a clinic, a Teaching Hospital, a home for 40 Ebola orphans merging with the boarding school (Sidcot School) and an eight-acre farm that produces cassava. With additional purchases from surrounding farmers, this adds value through its conversion into gari.

Job Creation

The farm is creating employment while also supporting both the centre and the surrounding community. It is now becoming a beacon of hope for the Bradford Community and providing hope Sierra Leone will become a Province of Freedom and Prosperity.
